Obituary – William Hall
Sincere regret was expressed throughout the town and district when it became known that Mr. William Hall had expired suddenly, at his residence in Chapel Street, Kilmore, at the age of 78 years. Deceased was the second son of the late John and Rachel Hall, formerly of England and Ireland, from where they came to Australia in the early days, and settled at Allansford, near Warrnambool, where he was born. As a young man, he came to Kilmore, where he was employed by the Railways Department at bridge-building on the section of the line between Wallan and Bendigo. At the age of 32 years, he married Jessie McKenzie, of Willowmavin, whose brothers still reside at Kilmore. He selected land within the district and remained as a farmer for a number of years. He then retired and lived in Kilmore, where he has been a resident for over 16 years. He was of a quiet and jovial disposition and was well thought of by all with whom he came in contact. He leaves to mourn their loss, a widow, two sons (John and Leslie, Kilmore), two daughters, Flora (Mrs Fitzgerald, Sydney) and Olive (Mrs W. Maher, Kilmore), together with two brothers, John and David, and two sisters, Mrs Fraser and Miss Hall, to whom we extend our deepest sympathy.
The largely attended funeral took place on Saturday last, the remains being laid to rest in the family grave at the Kilmore General Cemetery. The Rev. H.G. Ford conducted the service at the graveside, and the funeral arrangements were in the capable hands of Mr. Graham Diggle. Coffin bearers were: W. Phippard, S. Neil, J. MacDonald, A. Harrington, A. Fraser and J. McKenzie. Pall bearers were: C. Boyd, M. McKenzie, W. McKenzie, A. McNab, Mark Neil, P. Clarke, Tom Chapman and K. McQueen. Flower bearers: H. MacDonald, J. Smith, S. Moore and J. Evans.

Obituary – Janet Hall
We regret to record the death of a very old identity of the district in the person of Mrs Janet Hall, which occurred at her daughter’s (Mrs W. Maher) residence in Kilmore on Tuesday of last week. The deceased, who was 87 years of age, had been ill for several months but her passing came as a shock to her relatives and many friends. The late Janet Hall was the second eldest daughter of the late Alexander and Janet McKenzie, farmers of Willowmavin in the early days. The deceased was born and educated at Willowmavin and had spent the whole of her lifetime in the Kilmore district. Her husband, the late William Hall, predeceased her 11 years ago. For many years the deceased was an ardent worker for the Presbyterian Church and her passing will be regretted by a wide circle of friends in the town and district. The deceased is survived by a family of two sons, John (Kilmore) and Leslie (Kilmore), and two daughters, Florence (Mrs Fitzgerald, Sydney) and Olive (Mrs W. Maher, Kilmore), 14 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren; a daughter (Beatrice) predeceased her. After a service at the residence, the interment was made at the Kilmore General Cemetery and the funeral was largely attended. Rev G.W. Finch officiated at the service and at the graveside. The casket bearers were Messrs J. Cook, A. McKenzie, F. Bowers, and J. McDonald. Pallbearers, Messrs. M. McKenzie, W. Maher, M. Bowers, E. McDonald, A. McDonald, T. Chapman, W. McKenzie and D. Hagan. Flowerbearers, Mrs D. McDonald, Miss Fitzgerald, Miss Maher and Mrs L. Hall. Funeral arrangements were carried out by Diggle & Maher, Kilmore. (Kilmore Free Press, 27 Sep 1951 p.8)
